Jammu, Jan 13: Three day national seminar-cum-workshop on “Maintenance of Kashmiri Language, Literature and Culture” organized by Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages under the aegis of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) concluded today at KL Saigal Hall.
On the concluding day, different writers including Dr RL Shant, Padam Shri ML Kemu, Bal Krishan Sanyasi, SN Veer, Bimla Misra, Ashok Koul and Jawahar Lal Raina read papers on culture.
While speaking, Moti Koul, president, AIKS stressed on the need of framing a confederation at least on the issues of preserving Kashmir language, literature and culture. He also donated Rs 1 lakh to the authorities of the Center of Kashmiri Language.
Center for Kashmiri Literature, Languages and Culture (CKLLC) came out with plans including preparing an online encyclopedia of Kashmir language, literature and culture, editing the work of Lal Ded, Nund Reshi, Mahjoor, Azad, Dina Nath Nadim, Zinda Koul, etc in Devnagri script, setting up of units of CKLLC at various places including Jammu.
Earlier, Dr RL Shant summed up the seminar into strategies and plans of transcription of the literary material into Devnagri, establishing a cell for the selection of poets in modern and contemporary literature, transcription of texts into publications, finding publishers and ways of sale of books, holding of seminars and forming a literary federation.
Aryan Ramesh, secretary, AIKS offered free accommodation for the cultural activities at Jammu, while Subash Zutshi appealed to send copies of respective books to start a library at Jagti township. Rashid Jehangir emotionally surcharged the atmosphere and enthralled the audience.
Among others present were Dr RK Bhat, Dr Omkar Kaul, Dr MK Kaul, Rajinder Raina, PN Shad, MK Bhat Nirdhan, Brij Hali, MK Santoshi, Pradip Khodbali, PL Sudeshi, etc.
