Natrang stages ‘Band Kamre’

JAMMU, Nov 11: Natrang today staged Gursharan Singh’s famous play “Band Kamre” at its studio theatre, here today. The play has been directed by Anil Tickoo.
The story of the play goes like this, there is a very big house which is inhabited by just two people one husband who is physically disabled and his wife who is in control of all the affairs.
Though there are many rooms in the house but they use just one room as the wife believes that the room where someone has taken his last breath will be kept reserved for the soul of that person.
A turn comes in the mundane and monotonous life of the couple when ‘Raji’ niece of the wife comes to live with her as she had lost her parents.
Raji had just entered her youth and after losing her parents, she was looking for a shoulder for emotional back up and started looking the love and sympathy from a Professor who was her father’s friend.
Her Aunt was much against this unacceptable relationship and under the pressure of his wife, Professor steps back from the relationship, which was so unbearable for Raji that she committed suicide. And as the custom of the house, the only room left also is going to be reserved for the soul of ‘Raji’ resulting the couple to live rest of their life in kitchen.
Rahul Singh acted as husband, Sajra Qadir as wife Ashwani Bali as Professor and Anita Dhar as Raji.
Lights were operated by Rohit Verma and music was scored by Uplaksh Singh Kotwal, sets were designed by Antriksh Jandial and Shivam Manhas. Mohd Yaseen coordinated the show and the presentations were done by Sumeet Sharma.
