JAMMU, Aug 24: Charged yet another new Dogri play ‘Jeene Da Lah’ written by O P Sharma and directed by Neeraj Kant, was presented here today at Natrang Studio Theatre in its Sunday Theatre Series. The play carried a very relevant social message which youth must understand to take the country on the road of progress.
The play opens at the home of one ‘Mahesh’ who is the eldest son of the family, having one younger brother ‘Ram’ and a younger sister ‘Rani’. As he is well qualified, he lives in his own idealistic world where he shall have the full value and respect for his degree and in return he shall render his services in the betterment of society. He shall have nothing less than a highly dignified Job which compliments his qualifications. This is what he believes and leaves all other options without even considering them. His younger brother has got a job and is the earning hand in the family which runs on the pension of the old retired father. ‘Ram’ commands much respect and acceptability in the society because of his job. This adds fuel to the frustration of his elder brother. The situation deteriorates to the extent that marriage proposals are coming for the younger brother and not for the elder as he is jobless. Eventually heeding on the advice of a close friend, who is perusing higher qualifications for a bright future in addition to doing teaching in a school, ‘Mahesh’ is also motivated to start with some noble job with the hope that he would excel in it and will get the success and respect he deserves. The play is very relevant to the society and youth in particular who shall not be too rigid in their approach in aspiring for a particular kind of job in the present scenario where there are already very rare job opportunities.
Natrang actors who performed in the play included Mohd Yaseen as Bhola Nath, Mahikshit Singh Langeh as Mahesh, Sakshi Prakash as Shanti, Juhi Singh as Rani, Sachin Saini as Ajeet and Namit Dubey as Ram. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma while Kritika Singh Bhau did the presentations.
