JAMMU, Mar 30: Accusing Congress of being equally responsible for prevailing trust deficit between people of the State and rest of the country, PDP patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed today emphasized on the need of formulating a long term policy to solve all problems of the State.
Addressing an election rally at Khanpur area in Nagrota constituency in support of his party candidate Yash Paul Sharma, the PDP leader turned tables on Congress and alleged “like NC, leadership of Congress is also equally responsible for prevailing anarchy, chaos and sense of uncertainty in State”.
Mufti said it is a historical fact that whenever Congress has entered into alliance with NC, the State of J&K plunged into unprecedented crisis and their alliance always proved ominous for the people of this region. “It is coincidence that whenever both these parties shared power, alienation of people increased and faith of the masses in the system badly shattered”, he added.
He said like their previous experiments for enjoying power, the present NC-Congress coalition has also proved disastrous for the people of J&K as during the last five and half years alienation of people has been increasing with every passing day and credibility of the Government has reached to its lowest ebb.
“Coalition has been exposed due to its misdeeds, mis-governance and mal-administration so people are looking towards PDP to get them rid of the present anarchist dispensation”, Mufti said and observed that change is imminent in the State and the coming Lok Sabha elections is a step forward towards that.
PDP patron said if voted to power his Party would remove the walls of hatred among different regions of the State and would also remove the trust deficit between people of Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country. “Through our convictions and programmes, we would remove this trust deficit” to which PDP is committed, he added.
Yashpal Sharma, Dr Sammer Koul, Ved Mahajan, Shanti Devi, Ab Hamid Choudhary, Rashid Malik, Rashpal Singh Bittoo also addressed the meetings.
Earlier addressing a meeting of Kashmiri Pandits in support of party candidate Mehbooba Mufti, PDP patron reiterated resolve of his party to facilitate honourable return of Kashmiri Pandit migrants to their native places. He sought support and cooperation of the Kashmiri Pandit community to change the present system. “PDP has already started the process of transformation to change destiny of the people of this State”, he said, adding, “I want your role in the process of transformation and you have to be with us in our efforts to establish a new system in the State”.
He recalled contribution of Kashmiri Pandits leaders especially Sham Lal Saraf, M N Koul, P N Bajaj, Kashyap Bandu, D P Dhar, P LHando and others in strengthening democratic system in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Aim of PDP is not just to attain the power but our ultimate goal is to change destiny of the people of the State and to establish a system where justice will be given to all sections of the society”, he said and exhorted the displaced community to come forward and join PDP’s campaign to change the system. “You have to be instrumental in the process of transformation”, he added.
Mufti appealed Kashmiri Pandits living in different parts of Jammu to cast their vote in favour of PDP candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
“I am here to seek support for PDP candidate Mehbooba Mufti, who is president of our party and contesting Lok Sabha election”, he said.
