The opposition members, led by NC legislator from Kishtwar, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Congress Member, Naresh Gupta  today again raised the issue of construction of seven power projects in Kishtwar belt and failure of the Government to rehabilitate the people affected by such projects. They were demanding constitution of House Committee which should go to the area and take stock of situation and submit its report to the Government.
As the House  today commenced its normal business in the morning,  the opposition members stood up from their seats and started protesting   and demanding setting up of House Committee  on the power projects issue and rehabilitation of people being displaced from there. They said that they were not satisfied with the reply of the Dy Chief Minister  and Chairman should announce constitution of House Committee.
Naresh Gupta while addressing to the Chairman said that issue was very important  as it pertained to the fate of thousands of people and the Chairman should issue directions in this regard.
Chairman, Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali rejected their demand and said he has seen the fate of previous  House Committees. How many Committees they want? He asked GN Monga what was the fate of the committee of which he is  chairman?  He also asked Dr Shehnaz Ganai and Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo to furnish  reports of the committees of which they are members during this session. Then he would take a decision on the formulation of  this committee. Monga, however, said that he would submit report during this session as report was almost ready.
The Chairman said that they should not disturb Question Hour as it was also equally important. Then PDP and BJP members also stood up and both the sides were involved in  heated exchanges for some time.  Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri and R&B Minister Naeem Akhtar intervened and controlled ruling members.
