JAMMU, Sept 25: Former Minister and BJP leader Priya Sethi has strongly criticized the National Conference (NC) and Congress, accusing them of aligning with Pakistan’s agenda in Jammu and Kashmir.
Her remarks came after Pakistan’s Defence Minister’s statement, which she claims, has exposed the two parties for following directions from Islamabad.
Campaigning door-to-door for Yudhvir Sethi, the BJP candidate in Jammu East, Sethi said Pakistan’s interference in the J&K elections was clear evidence of its influence over NC and Congress.
She asserted that Pakistan seeks to disrupt the peace in Kashmir, which has been stable since the abrogation of Article 370 by the Modi government.
Sethi demanded public clarifications from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and NC leader Farooq Abdullah on the Pakistani Defence Minister’s statement.
She alleged that both NC and Congress are prioritizing political gains over national interest and are attempting to destabilize the region for their benefit.
“It is now established that NC and Congress want to keep J&K on the boil for political reasons. They have no concern for the common Kashmiris, who now trust in the democratic system,” she said, citing the high voter turnout in the first phase of the ongoing elections.
Sethi further emphasized that the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 has led to significant development, including improved infrastructure, increased investment, enhanced security, and a surge in tourism.
She highlighted the region’s positive transformation under the Modi government, noting that these initiatives have provided new opportunities for the youth and fostered a sense of belonging.
She called on the people of J&K to resist any attempts to disrupt the region’s hard-won peace and stability, stressing the need to unite against divisive politics.
“The BJP remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of J&K and ensuring the region’s continued progress and integration with the rest of India,” Sethi concluded.
