JAMMU, Nov 29: National Conference (NC) leaders demanded comprehensive probe into the affairs of Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) ever since its inception with special reference to leakage of question papers pertaining to post-graduate medical entrance examination 2003.
“The fraud was a part of well conceived conspiracy hatched by someone at the top to benefit favourites at the cost of the career of meritorious candidates”, NC leaders said while urging the Government to get the whole gambit of issue probed into by a sitting Judge of the High Court.
Signatories to the statement included former Ministers Govind Ram Sharma, Syed Mushtaq Bukhari and Babu Ram Paul besides vice president Rattan Lal Gupta, provincial secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, former legislators and senior leaders Kashmira Singh, Bushan Lal Bhat, Satpal Lakhotra, Jugal Mahajan, Vijay Laxmi Dutta, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Taranjeet Singh Tony, Surinder Singh Bunty, Anil Dhar, Iqbal Wani and Rajiv Chuni.
The leaders said that thorough scanner of BOPEE will unravel the truth as to who were the persons and who were their abettors in the heinous crime from time to time which jeopardized the chances of talented candidates in various professional examinations.
“Since the issue relates to young people, morality demands that justice should be done by exposing the culprits”, they added.
Referring to the 2003-04 post graduate medical scam, the leaders expressed surprise over the way the names of the beneficiaries were kept under wraps so that the real actors do not get exposed.
They sought exemplary punishment for the perpetrators which will serve as a deterrent for wrong doers in the future.
