NAGROTA, Nov 16: Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that National Conference will not deviate from its path of steering Jammu and Kashmir to peace and holistic development besides guaranteeing dignified life to the people, irrespective of region, religion or caste.
“This being the stated policy, the successive National Conference Governments have worked towards achieving the goal of infrastructural development and implementation of various welfare programmes”, he said while addressing series of election meetings in Panchayat Jandrah, Aithem and Kanna Chadgal (Sandhi) in Nagrota.
The Provincial President referred to the bold initiatives taken by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the past six years to put Jammu and Kashmir on the path of sustained development. “The successes have been enormous on each front”, he said, adding more could have been achieved, had the party been overwhelmingly mandated by the people to govern the state. In this backdrop, he stressed the crucial need of clear mandate for National Conference to translate its vision into reality in next six years.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Divine Touch- Ally of Needy, a society working for welfare of youth in Nagrota, offered their full support to the candidature of Rana through their Executive Director, Sudhir Padha, Ajay Sharma, Arun Baru, Jaipal Sharma and Vikas Singh.
Mr Rana, who is contesting from Nagrota Assembly Constituency as National Conference candidate, told the party workers to remain steadfast in their mission of serving the people. He said the party has surmounted turbulent winds with fortitude and there is no reason why it will not emerge as a force to reckon with. He said despite obstacles created by the opponents by indulging in malicious propaganda, National Conference has retained its premier role in the state politics, which is reflected by the results of successive assembly elections. He exuded confidence that the party will do well in all the three regions and establish its foothold in the Jammu province firmly.
Earlier, the people of Panchayats of Jandrah, Dhan and Nagola, rising above party politics, brought out a procession, committing themselves to enmass vote for Mr Devender Singh Rana, who according to them, has helped in creation of Jandhrah tehsil.
Speaking to the people, Mr Rana referred to his vision of making Nagrota a model constituency and said their overwhelming support has strengthened his resolve to go whole-hog for achieving this mission. “We have to tread the journey for holistic development of Nagrota together”, he said and urged the people to join his effort of heralding a new era for the era wherein it will emerge as a most sought after destination for residential and commercial activity. He said the constituency has already embarked on this mission which is discernible by the amount of development having taken place since the past few years.
