NCB arrests lady with 2.92 kgs cannabis

JAMMU, July 19: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Unit Jammu arrested a lady hailing from Anantnag and recovered 2.92 kilograms of cannabis.
According to Zonal Director Narcotics Control Bureau Jammu Virendra Kumar, on specific information, the sleuths of NCB Zonal Unit Jammu intercepted a lady hailing from District Anantnag at bus stand Jammu.
During checking, police recovered 2.92 kilograms of cannabis from the possession of the lady and arrested him, he said, adding that the lady was arrested, when she was booking the ticket from Jammu to Jaipur to hand over the consignment further destined at Ahmedabad.
Yadav informed that this was the second seizure of cannabis during this month and 8th seizure during this year.
“The arrested lady has been produced in the Court and further lodged in District Jail Amphalla Jammu”, he said, adding that the arrested lady revealed that the origin of the drug was Anantnag and was destined to Ahmedabad.
He said it has been evident from the recent seizures that cannabis and other contraband are being trafficked to other parts of the country from Kashmir Valley and all the means of transport are being used such as light vehicle, taxis (tempo travellers), trains and trucks.
“Narcotics Control Bureau, Zonal Unit Jammu and other enforcement agencies have launched their drives actively against the drug traffickers in the area during the year 2017 and affected a lot of seizures of narcotics drug”, Yadav said, adding that the same efforts are being continued during the current year 2018 resulting which 8 seizures were affected by the unit till date.
