NCC Republic Day contingent meets Governor

JAMMU, Dec 27: A Republic Day contingent comprising of 99 NCC cadets representing all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir met  N.N. Vohra, the Governor and  Usha Vohra, the First Lady, at Raj Bhavan today. The NCC group was led by Major General Neeraj Verma, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate.
The cadets presented a colourful cultural programme which  comprised a group song on the theme of environment protection, a group dance depicting the dance forms of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and a ballad dedicated to the invaluable devotion and sacrifices of the Armed Forces. These cultural items are part of the presentations which this contingent will  make at the National Republic Day Camp which is  being held at New Delhi in January, 2014.
The Governor congratulated the NCC cadets for presenting a high quality cultural programme, and complimented Brigadier N.K.Khajuria, Commander, NCC Group, Srinagar, for composing a meaningful song to stress the message of  environmental preservation.
Wishing the NCC contingent high success in their various competitions at the Republic Day Camp, the Governor said that this group of cadets from all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir should be proud to be the part of NCC Junior and Senior Divisions and  make the best use of this period to imbibe discipline and develop the capacity of living and working together and strengthening the bonds of unity and enriching their personalities with a larger vision of their role in carrying the country forward.
The Governor invited the contingent and all their instructors to undertake a visit to the  Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and presenting a cultural show at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, after their return from the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.
On the occasion, Major General Neeraj Verma, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate, presented a welcome address. A vote of thanks was presented by Brigadier Sandeep Kala, Deputy Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate.
Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor was present on the occasion.
