JAMMU, Aug 18: The general secretary of the Jammu wing of JKCA, M L Nehru through a press statement issued today has said, “The holding of the selection trial camp for Jammu probables at Srinagar from August 20, 2014 has been decided and approved by the president of JKCA, Dr Farooq Abdullah in view of the bad condition of the GGM Science College ground Jammu caused due to negligence and ensuing rainy season prevailing in Jammu. The chairman and senior cricketers and selectors from Jammu region have advised that it will not be proper and safe for the boys of Jammu to put them on trial under the prevailing ground conditions in Jammu. Moreover, JKCA is also arranging the services of senior International coach, who is expected to coaching assignment at Srinagar very soon, so it would be desirable for Jammu boys also get benefited under the elaborate coaching programme of the Association. The Association will decide about the venue of Under-19, Under-16 and Under-14 age group trials after concluding Ranji and Under-23 trials at Srinagar.”
Meanwhile, when asked about the prevailing mess in JKCA, chairman of the Association, Arvinder Singh Mickey said that there isn’t any confusion or mess in JKCA as the atmosphere was not conducive in Jammu to hold the camp and that is why the camp is being organized in Srinagar, adding that JKCA will provide all facilities, including transport, boarding and lodging to the Jammu boys in Srinagar.
He further said that he has been authorized by Dr Farooq Abdullah to take decisions at his own to run the Association smoothly and successfully.
