JAMMU, Oct 7: “National Education Policy 2020 is going to a turning point for India. With ever increasing significance of skill-based education, the NEP 2020 if executed in letter and spirit will be a benchmark of development,” Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Prof Javed Musarrat said while delivering a presentation during brainstorming session on the implementation on NEP 2020 at BGSBU.
In his address, Prof Musarrat highlighted the major concerns of higher education in India that led to the emergence of NEP 2020.
While discussing the transformational reforms in education sector, Prof Musarrat emphasized on the structural changes under NEP 2020 that will ensure that the knowledge and opportunities students receive within the country are at par with global standards. Higher education Commission of India (HECI) will be a single overarching umbrella body for the promotion of higher education in India, he added.
On the occasion, Prof Musarrat discussed at length the action plan for BGSBU and presented a time line for the implementation of NEP 2020 at BGSBU.
Prof Musarrat urged the members of teaching and non -teaching fraternity of BGSBU to start with, in a time-bound manner for the implementation of NEP 2020 guidelines vis-à-vis academics, research, infrastructure, and other areas, to be able to meet its objectives.
The Vice Chancellor’s presentation was followed by a panel discussion
The panel chaired by Prof Musarrat, comprised of Prof GM Malik, Prof Naseem Ahmed, Prof Asif Husaain and Registrar of the University Mohammad Ishaq.
Proceeding of the event was conducted by Dr Danish Iqbal Raina, Media Advisor, Head of Departments.
Faculty members and officers of the University were present on the occasion and participated in the discussion.
