New Challenger, JCC register emphatic victories

JAMMU, Jan 2: New Challenger Cricket Club and Jammu Cricket Club registered victories over their rivals in the ongoing 3rd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, being played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
In the first match, New Challengers defeated JKP XI by 2 wickets in a close contest. Batting first, JKP scored a modest total of 118 runs in 20 oers. Suman Koul was the top scorer with 37 runs, while Ishtiaq and Ashraf contributed 21 and 19 runs to the total respectively. Soumay Jain was the pick of the bowlers for New Challenger, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Bansi Lal and Sumit captured 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
In reply, New Challenger chased the target in 19.4 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Sahil Bhalwal top scored with 30 runs, while Gokul and Firdous contributed 15 and 14 runs respectively. Sohan Lal and Ashraf bagged 2 wickets each, while RK Bhat claimed one wicket for JKP XI. Soumay Jain was declared as man of the match.
In another match played today, Jammu Cricket Club defeated YCC by 31 runs. JCC scored 139 runs in 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. Deepak Dogra was the top scorer with unbeaten 30 runs, while Gurdeep Singh and Vishwajeet Singh contributed 24 and 15 runs respectively. For YCC, Kewal and Vinay took 2 wickets each, while Devinder claimed one wicket.
In reply, YCC bundled out for 108 runs, thus lost the match by 31 runs. Rahul Sharma top scored with 42 runs, while Vinay contributed 32 runs to the total. Nasir chipped in with 14 runs. Vivek was the wrecker-in-chief for JCC, who took 4 important wickets, while Deepak Dogra claimed 3 wickets. Hrithik also claimed one wicket. Deepak Dogra was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round display.
The matches were officiated by Rajinder Singh and Sandeep Manchanda as umpires, while Vinod Kandyara was the scorer.
