JAMMU, Mar 16: Formid-able New Challengers Cricket Club and strong Jammu Cricket Club defeated their rivals in the ongoing 1st SP Smart Jammu Cup Cricket Tournament, being organized by chief organizer Vicky Raina and his team at MA Stadium, here.
In the first match played today, New Challengers thrashed Khalsa Cricket Club by a big margin of 54 runs.
Earlier, batting first, New Challengers scored a decent total of 145 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Pranav Gupta was the top scorer with 34 runs, studded with 4 fours and one six, while Gourav and Ashu contributed 21 runs each. For Khalsa Club, Prithvi took 3 wickets, while Vishal claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Khalsa Club bundled out for 91 runs, thus lostthe match by a big margin of 54 runs. Minkle top scored with quick-fire 31 runs including 2 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Vivek contributed 26 runs to the total. Vijay Dogra was the pick of the bowlers for New Challengers Club, who scalped 4 important wickets, while Sunit bagged 3 wickets. For his splendid bowling display, Vijay Dogra was declared as man of the match.
In another match, Jammu Cricket Club defeated Abrar Cricket Club by 7 wickets. Abrar Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first to score a modest total of 122 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Jatin Wadhawan and Satish were the main contributors with 33 and 23 runs respectively. For Jammu Cricket Club, Rahil Singh and Deepak Dogra (Baba) captured 3 wickets each.
In reply, Jammu Crocket Club chased the target easily by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Shubham Pundir top scored with 39 runs, while Paras Sharma and Deepak Dogra contributed 25 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For Abrar Club, Kulvinder took 3 wickets, while Dilbag claimed one. Deepak Dogra was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round show.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Singh and Deepak as umpires, while Sahil Bhal was the scorer.
