New Challengers CC trounces KC Sports Club in opening tie

JAMMU, Feb 11: New Challengers Cricket Club got better of KC Sports Club, Jammu in an exciting contest by a narrow margin of 6 runs to advance in the Holi Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, which got underway at Mandal Cricket ground, here today.
The Tournament was inaugurated by the chief guests Subash Chander, Sarpanch Mandal and Ankush Abrol, Working Committee Member JKCA in an impressive function, which among others was attended by former Ranji Trophy player Ravi Sharma and organizers Sachin Singh, Sunil Kumar and Manmohan Paroch.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, New Challengers Club scored a fighting total of 135 runs in 19.3 overs. Ashu top scored with 57 runs, studded with 6 fours and 2 sixes, while Sandeep Singh contributed 15 runs to the total. Manjeet Singh and Vijay Dogra chipped in with 12 runs each. For KC Sports Club, Abhishek was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 17 runs in his 4 overs, while Vivek took 2 and Arjun claimed one.
In reply, KC Sports Club managed to score 129 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 6 runs. Abhishant was the top scorer with 44 runs off 32 balls, which included 5 boundaries and one maximum, while Suryansh Raina contributed well-made 25 runs to the total. Sahil Bhalwal was the most successful bowler for New Challengers Club, taking 3 wickets, while Soumay Jain and Sumeet bagged 2 wickets each. Akash Choudhary and Ashu also claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Sunil Kumar and Gulshan as umpires.
In the next match of the Tournament to be played on February 13, 2015, Rommy Sports Club will take on Bunty Cricket Club at 10 am.
