NEW DELHI, Mar 22 : New Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, on his maiden visit to the union capital after assuming office on 9th of this month, called onUnion Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed wide range of issues related to development and other aspects concerning the State.
Among other things, the Chief Minister took up with Dr Jitendra Singh, the issue of centrally funded projects in the State. The Chief Minister was confident that, with the support of the Modi Government, it would be possible to bring in drastic transformation in Tripura within first 100 days of the new Government itself.
Biplab Kumar also requested Dr Jitendra Singh that, in his capacity as Minister In-charge, Department of Personnel & Training (DOP&T), he should arrange for repatriation of some of the good officers of Tripura cadre back to the State.
Dr Jitendra Singh responded positively to each of the observations made by the Chief Minister. He informed the Chief Minister about the decision taken at the Union Cabinet meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve North East Industrial Development Scheme(NEIDS)-2017 with a financial outlay of Rs. 3000 Crore.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, Tripura is going to earn a place of pride in India’s map when the train to Bangladesh takes off from Agartala. The work on the rail track, he said, is in progress and the construction of rail track upto the Bangladesh border is being funded by Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
Dr Jitendra Singh also disclosed that, as a historic decision under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recently an exclusive separate “NITI Aayog Forum” has been set up for Northeast. He informed the Chief Minister that the first-ever meeting of this forum is scheduled to be held at the Tripura capital, Agartala on the 10th of next month. Vice Chairman NITI Aayog, Rajeev Kumar and other members are expected to attend the meeting, he added.
Biplab Kumar Deb also took up the issue of encouraging investments in Tripura and promoting certain exclusive sectors like, for example, Pineapple Fruit Industry. Dr Jitendra Singh responded by saying that, an optimum mechanism can be worked out for this purpose.
Dr Jitendra Singh conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s keen desire to ensure equitable development of Tripura and make up for the lapses of the past years.
