New Dastgeer Sahib Shrine to be ready in June: Sagar

SRINAGAR, Jan 6: Senior National Conference leader, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the renovation project of the shrine of Peer-i-Dastgeer Sahib Khanyar Sharfeef (RA), will be completed this June.
Sagar conducted tours of various areas of Srinagar city and took the stock of situation to check the arrangements made by the administration in view of the winters.
During the tour, people apprised Sagar about the various hardships faced by them in the ongoing winters and non-availability of the essential commodities in the city.
While listening to the grievances of people, he promised them that the administration will provide adequate power, water supply and other essential commodities as it is bound to help people in these tough times.
Meanwhile, after touring various areas, Sagar chaired a meeting of Government officials to seek details about the completion of the new construction of Peer-i-Dastgeer Sahib Khanyar Sharfeef (RA) shrine.
Sagar was informed that out of Rs 18 crore allocated for the renovation of the shrine, Rs 14 crore have been spent and the new shrine will be thrown open for the devotees by June 2015.
Prominent among others present in the meeting were DDC Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Shah, Municipal Commissioner Dr Qasba, Vice Chairman Muslim Auqaf Trust  M Y Qadri, SSP Srinagar, Sajada Nisheen Syed Khalid Geelani and other high ranking officials of different departments.
While addressing the officers, Sagar said the Government has tried its level best to construct the shrine in its original shape.
Sagar directed the administration to take requisite steps to increase the security of the shrine and said that the Relic of Hazrat Gous-ul-Azam (RA) will also be shifted in the new shrine.
He said fire proof instruments and fire alarms should be installed in the shrine, and also CCTV cameras should be installed all around.
He also directed the officials to make heating arrangements like Hazratbal, Khankhah Maula and Chrar-i-Sharief Shrine at the Dastgeer Sahib Shrine.
Speaking in the meeting, DC Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Shah said the construction of the shrine will be completed by the June 2015 and also arrangements like last year will be made during the annual Urs this year as well.
