DODA, Dec 29: Child Development Project Office Thathri has launched a new initiative under `Poshan Abhiyan’, which was inaugurated by Additional DC/District Programme Officer ICDS, Doda, Kishori Lal.
The idea behind this new initiative was conceived by CDPO Thathri, Mohit Bharti, who informed that at least 15 Panchayats of Thathri Project have volunteered to adopt the innovation.
Under this initiative, a stock of 10 to 15 poultry birds shall be maintained in each Anganwadi Centre with the assistance of local Panchayats and the eggs yielded from backyard poultry will be provided to the ICDS beneficiaries, who include children, adolescent girls and pregnant women as a supplementary nutrition. Eggs being the best source of proteins and vitamins are very beneficial for growth and development of children.
On this occasion, chairman Block Development Council Chiralla, Sarpanch of Panchayat Juneja, Anganwadi workers, Helpers, children and large number of locals were present.
