JANDRAH, Feb 13: Lauding sagacity of the people of Jandrah for suspending their agitation following the decision to constitute a new panel to consider the demands of left over areas, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Thursday said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is keen to accommodate all view points.
“While appreciating your democratic right to agitate, I want to assure you that grant of Tehsil status to Jandrah will be taken up forcefully with the panel as also the Chief Minister for an earnest and favourable decision”, the Provincial President told the agitating people.
The people of the area were on strike for the past 10 days to press their demand for Tehsil status to Jandrah. A deputation of the locals’ action committee met the Provincial President and submitted a memorandum for consideration of the Chief Minister.
Mr Rana said that while the creation of 659 new administrative units is a landmark decision of the Government, the announcement of a new panel to consider the demands of other areas is equally a commendable move of the Chief Minister, which reflects his deep urge to satiate the aspirations of the people to their satisfaction. He said the decision of the new panel has unnerved and foiled the mischievous game plan of those who wanted to exploit it by whipping up passions to derive political mileage. “But for the timely decision of Mr Abdullah, the peace inimical political forces would have exploited the sentiment by inciting innocent people”, he said adding that the new panel will consider the demands of the areas which feel deprived in respect of administrative units.
The Provincial President said the revolutionary step of the Government has generated euphoria across the State as people understand the importance of administration reaching their door steps. “The new administrative units will not only save the people from inconvenience they used to encounter while undertaking long journeys and wasting days together to seek redressal to their revenue and related issues but also transform the socio economic scenario of the far off areas”, he said and enumerated how new community development blocks will give new impetus to rural development and utility services ensure implementation of welfare schemes in effective manner.
