RAJOURI, Oct 23: A newly born baby girl was found lying in an abandoned structure at Rajdani village near Thannamandi in Rajouri district during early morning today.
Reports said that a villager Rameez Dar while returning from nearby mosque during early morning heard the cries of a child from the nearby semi- damaged tin structure located just adjacent to a private high school. He went inside and saw a new born baby girl abandoned by some body, wrapped in the clothes. He picked up the girl and started inquiring from the people of the area. The Panchayat members also assembled and they informed Thannamandi police about the matter. The village women warmed the weeping child and covered her with woolen clothes. They also offered milk.
The police party led by SDPO reached the village and shifted the child to Thannamandi hospital for medical check up. The police has registered a case in this connection and started search for the parents of the abandoned baby. Later, the baby was shifted to Rajouri. One Zameel Ahmed and his wife of Rajouri town today approached police and offered to adopt the child legally.
