JAMMU, Jan 3: The NGR Football Club today started the selection process for the formation of first ever 2nd Division I-League team from Jammu with the holding of trials at University of Jammu (JU) ground, here.
The Club has received an encouraging response from the players, who responded in a large number to the invitation of the NGR FC management.
“A good number of around 80 boys turned up the venue and 60 of them put into a test by the technical penal. These boys were divided into groups and teams and then a selection competition took place for over two hours. The process shall continue for two more days to further shortlist the talented stuff,” president of the NGR Club, Amardeep Singh told .
The trials are being conducted under the technical supervision of AFC-A Licence course from J&K, Sat Pal Singh. Senior coach with J&K Sports Council, Sat Pal Singh has got the unique experience of raising the professional club of Lone Star.
“Senior players from different parts of J&K have shown enthusiasm in becoming part of the first professional club from Jammu. We are also in the process of inviting those J&K players already engaged outside the state to take part in the selection process,” informed general secretary of the Club, Varinder Sharma.
Prominent among those present during the trials were former DFA president, Sheikh Mehmood, former Manager J&K Bank Football team, Ramesh Chander, former J&K Police team coach, Ranjit Singh, incharge J&K Bank Academy Jammu, Rajesh Sumbria, J&K Bank team coach, University of Jammu Football coach, Gagan Kumar; Shehnaz Iqbal, Kamaljeet Singh, Varinder Sharma, K K Sharma, Sanjeev Vaid, Diploma holder from NIS in football, Dhananjay Sharma and Kaushal Sharma.
