SRINAGAR, Oct 27: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned Pakistan based Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin’s grandson in terror funding case in Jammu and Kashmir.
The summon was issued days after Salahuddin’s son Syed Shahid Yousuf was arrested by the NIA in New Delhi following his questioning for about two days. The probe agency also raided Salahuddin’s residence at Soibugh in the central Kashmir district of Budgam yesterday.
Official sources said Salahuddin’s grandson Muzamil Khan, only son of his daughter, has been asked to produce himself at the NIA headquarters in the national capital. Muzamil has done B Tech from Pakistan and lives at village Daharmuna, two km from the ancestral home of Salahuddin. Muzamil is latest among the list of persons, mostly separatists and businessmen, besides a sitting MLA, summoned by the NIA in connection with terror funding in Kashmir. The investigation agency alleged that separatists are receiving money through hawala and other sources for funding militancy and stone pelting.
Besides Shahid, over a dozen separatist leaders and businessmen have been so far arrested in connection with terror funding.
The separatist leaders arrested by the NIA, include spokesmen for both the factions of Hurriyat Conference, and National Front chief Nayeem Ahmad Khan, who admitted during a sting operation that separatists were receiving money from abroad for terror and stone pelting activities. Khan was later expelled from the separatist outfit.
The investigation agency has raided a number of residences of separatists and businessmen in Jammu and Kashmir, besides in Delhi and Haryana since the investigation into the terror funding started.
Another separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah was also arrested by Enforcement Directorate in July this year in connection with money laundering case of 2015.
