NIT Srinagar defeats NIT Hamirpur by 23 runs

SRINAGAR, Dec 17: NIT Srinagar emerged victorious by 23 runs over NIT Hamirpur in the final of the All India Inter-NIT Faculty and Staff Cricket Tournament, held at NIT Silchar, Assam.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, NIT Srinagar posted a competitive total of 138/5 in their allotted 15 overs. Faisal Irshad top-scored with an unbeaten 52 runs, hitting four boundaries and a six. Aaqib Sheikh added a quick-fire 16 off just 5 balls, and Sohail Ahmad Baba contributed 17 runs. Despite a disciplined effort from NIT Hamirpur’s bowlers, including two wickets each from Manish and Aman Kumar, the total proved challenging.
In reply, NIT Hamirpur could only manage 115/6, falling short of the target. NIT Srinagar’s bowlers, led by Dr. Majid Hussain (2/22), Mustafa Zargar, Dr. Shakeel Waseem, and Dr. Janibul Bashir, restricted the chase. Faisal Irshad was named Man of the Match. Aqib Jan was the highest run-scorer, while Mustafa Zargar claimed the most wickets for NIT Srinagar.
