JAMMU, Feb 10: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President Subash Shastri today appealed to Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to announce the release of pending instalment of 5 per cent DA due from January 1, 2018 in favour of the employees and pensioners of the Centre as well as the State Governments in view of price hike of essential commodities.
In a memorandum sent to the Prime Minister, Shastri said prices of all essential commodities have gone up so there was no justification on the part of the Central Government for withholding this instalment for their employees and pensioners.
He further appealed Narendra Modi to immediately accept the recommendation of the committee headed by Union Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa in which the committee has recommended minimum pay scale of the lower class employees to Rs 21,000 per month. Shastri hoped that Central Government will accept this recommendation of the committee at the earliest.
Shastri demanded enhancement of the wages of daily rated workers to Rs 500 per day. He urged the NDA Government to implement the same through out the country simultaneously so that working class would get sigh of relief from rising price and inflation.
“Total exemption of DA under income tax, enhancing income tax limit to Rs 5 lakh and setting up of National Wage Commission for evolving national pay policy thorough out the country were other demands highlighted in the memorandum”, he informed.
