‘No desire to hide anything, am an open book’ : PM

NEW DELHI, Sep 7: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, facing Opposition attack on coal scam, has hit back saying that he has nothing to hide on any matter.

“I have no desire to hide anything from Parliament, whether  on coal matters or other matters. I am an open book,” a tweet on the official page of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on micro blogging site Twitter said.

Dr Singh is on his way back from Russia after attending the  G-20 summit.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had estimated a loss of Rs 1.86 lakh crore to the national exchequer in alleged irregularities in the coal blocks allocation.

The BJP had earlier held the Prime Minister responsible for  the coal scam and has been demanding his resignation.

Dismissing the allegations by the Opposition that the missing files in the Coal Ministry was a deliberate ploy to hide irregularities in coal blocks allocation, Dr Singh, while speaking in Parliament on September 3 had said, “it is premature to say that some papers were missing and if it was the case, the Government would institute a probe to locate them and punish the guilty.”

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj has demanded filing of an FIR for what she termed as “the stolen coal scam files” while speaking in the House. (UNI)
