NEW DELHI:While reassuring of India’s special relationship with Russia, the Government has said there was no problem with its civil nuclear ties with the country.
The government said that the decisions taken under the Bilateral Strategic Vision Document on Strengthening Cooperation in Nuclear Energy signed in December 2014 were being followed ”India Russia relations continue to be on upward trajectory,” Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh said here.
His statement came in reply to a question from an MP as to whether strategic relations between the two countries were getting strained and what steps were taken to remove the differences relating to the Civil Nuclear Liability Law.
”India and Russia share a special and privileged partnership. Our relations with Russia are based on deep mutual trust and confidence,” Mr Singh said.
He said civil nuclear cooperation with Russia was progressing well. Moreover a wide range of initiative were being implemented to strengthen ties with Russia in other sectors such as defence, space, trade and investment as well as culture and people to people contact.
”The two countries have regular high-level interactions, including the Annual Summit, and institutional mechanism, wherein all relevant issues were discussed,” he said.(AGENCIES)
