No proposal to increase fund limit of works under local bodies, Panchayati institutions

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government today clarified that there was no proposal under consideration to increase the limits of funds falling in the local body and Panchayati institutions in the state.
Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar informed the Legislative Council that there is no proposal under consideration to increase the limit from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh for works falling in the Local body purview and from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh rupees in case of Panchayati institutions.
While replying on behalf of Minister in-charge Housing & Urban Development to a question of Yasir Reshi, Mr Akhtar said the department through Urban Local Bodies is taking the small natured construction works mostly below Rs 1 lakh at Municipal Councils/Committees, which does not come under e-tendering.
He said developmental works beyond Rs 1 lakh come under e-tendering category and all the works approved in the Annual Action Plan under Integrated Development of Major Towns (IDMT) were put to e-tendering and allotted to successful bidders. (AGENCIES)
