No proposal to pay compensation for loss of crops near border fencing in J&K

SRINAGAR:  Jammu and Kashmir Government today said there is no proposal to pay any compensation to the loss of crops on the land beyond the border fencing.

This information was given by Minister Incharge Home and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in reply to a question by Kuldeep Raj, who represents Hira Nagar constituency in the House.

The reply said that there is no proposal under consideration in the state Home Department to recommend to Government of India, shifting of Border Fencing (BF) to Zero Line (ZL) in order to ensure the cultivation of thousands of kanals of Agriculture land lying uncultivable between BF and ZL.

The Chief minister said,”as of now, there is no provision for compensation to the loss of crops on the land beyond the BF.” (AGENCIES)
