No proposal to roll back tax on helicopter service to Vaishnodevi, Amarnath

SRINAGAR : There is no proposal to roll back the tax imposed on helicopter service to Mata Vaishnodevi, Amarnath shrine and other destinations in Jammu and Kashmir, the Legilative Assembly was informed today.
Minister for Finance Haseeb Drabu said this in reply to a question by Rajiv Jasrotia in the Assembly. The Minister said that commercial helicopter service operating within Jammu and Kashmir have been brought within the ambit of taxation with effect from September 2, 2015.
He said the rate of tax in respect of commercial helicopter services is 12.6 per cent. There is no proposal under the consideration of the government, the minister said in the reply to question whether there is any proposal to roll back the tax.
He said tax is also being charged on helicopter service to Amarnath shrine. The annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will commence from July 2.
The reply said that the decision to impose tax on helicopter service was taken by Finance Department. (AGENCIES)
