JAMMU, Mar 21: The ongoing chain hunger strike by the Contractual Lecturers (10+2) today completed 400 days even as there has no response from the State Government towards their demand for regularization.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a Legislature passed for the regularization of all the Adhoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees.
Aggrieved over the no response of the State Government towards their demand, the agitating lecturers held a protest demonstration near the venue of chain hunger strike at Exhibition Ground Jammu. They raised slogans in support of their demand and also against the State Government as well as the Education Minister.
While addressing the gathering, Arun Bakshi, president of the Contractual Lecturers Association alleged that the Government was giving them blank assurance without conceding to their demand. Since the portfolio of Finance Department is also with the Education Minister Altaf Bukhari now, it is not very difficult for him to get this job done, he said and appealed the Education Minister to fulfill his promise by taking the matter in the Cabinet with financial clearance for its final approval so that 10+2 Contractual Lecturers are regularized either by Govt order No. 1301 Education of 2003, Dated: – 31-07-2003 or in the light of Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010.
Bakshi reiterated that they were contractual vide order no.1584-edu.of 2003 and vide order no.1328 of GAD and are to be continued till further order for their regularization.
Meanwhile, the rotational hunger strike by these Contractual Lecturers was continued Arun Bakhshi, Pankaj Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Reva Rani, Tripta and Pooja Salathia.
