North Kashmir faces Assam in summit clash today

SRINAGAR, Aug 21: Scripting convincing victories over their rivals in their respective semifinals, the formidable sides and North Kashmir and Assam have made it to the finals of the ongoing 17th All India T20 Cricket Federation Cup and will face each other in the title clash at Sports Stadium, Bandipora tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first semifinal at Victor Force Stadium, Jowbiara, Awantipora in Pulwama, Assam thrashed J&K Greens by 9 wickets in an easy contest.
Wining the toss and electing to bat first, J&K Greens bundled out for a paltry total of 104 runs in 15.3 overs. Skipper Irshad Ahmed was the top scorer with 32 runs.
In reply, Assam chased the target in 18.1 overs by losing one wicket only, thus won the match by 9 wickets.
The match was earlier inaugurated by K Nanda Kumaran, Deputy General Commanding Officer Victor Force, Jowbiara.
Meanwhile, in the second semifinal match at Sports Stadium, Bandipora, North Kashmir prevailed over Vidharbha in a close contest by 3 wickets.
Put into bat, Vidharbha scored a modest total of 120 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, North Kashmir chased the target in the 20th over by losing 7 wickets, thus won the match by 3 wickets.
The tournament, in which 16 teams drawn from all over the country participated, is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir State Twenty-20 Association. The participating teams included J&K Reds, J&K Blues, J&K Greens, North Kashmir, Vidharbha, Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Telangana Reds, Telangana Blues, Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Haryana, Assam and Jharkhand.
Four venues have been used during the tournament, which included Sports Stadium Pulwama, Sports Stadium, Bandipora, Victo Force Cricket Stadium, Jowbiara and Cricket Ground, Lajurah.
The final match will be played tomorrow at Sports Stadium, Bandipora, wherein MLA Baramulla, Muzzafar Hussain Baig will be the chief guest.
