Jammu, Nov 15: A North Zone Conference of Indian Menopause Society (IMS) was organized by IMS, Jammu Chapter in collaboration with Department of Medicine Government Medical College Jammu today at GMC Auditorium.
Around 300 delegates from Jammu and Kashmir and neighboring states of north India attended the conference.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr Manider Ahuja, President IMS along with Dr Sunela Khandelwal International Representative to CAMS and formal President IMS, Dr Ghansham Dev Gupta, Principal GMC Jammu, Dr Ashok Parihar President JK Medical Council and Dr RP Kuddayar, Director Principal ASCOMS.
Dr Sudha Sharma noted Gynecologist GMC Jammu and Dr Annil Mahajan HoD Medicine GMC were the organizing chairpersons, while Dr Jyoti Hak and Dr Vishal Tondon were the organizing secretary and Dr Jyotsna Lamba, Dr Anil Mehta were treasurers on the occasion.
The theme of this conference was “Medical Disorder in Menopause” which was addressed by eminent speakers of national and international fame including Dr Sunela Khandelwal, Dr HK Bali Director Cardiology Fortis Hospital Mohali, Dr Poonam Goel from GMC Chandigarh Institute Amritsar, Dr Charu Gauba Neurologist Apollo Hospital Delhi, Dr Ashima Taneja Head Gynecologist DMC Ludiana, Dr Shushma Chawala Honorary Prof ICMCH, Dr Pushpa Sethi Chairperson Club 35 IMS and Dr Navneet Kour from GMC Chandigarh.
The conference concluded that a multi dispensary medical approach is required for the women health especially during menopause as one third of life span of the women is spent in menopause.
A workshop is also being conducted as a part of this national conference tomorrow. The live surgeries will be performed by Dr HP Pattanaik Vice President Elect IMS, Dr Vinit Mishra Vice President Elect for FOGSI and Dr Manider Ahuja.
