JAMMU, Nov 13: The Prize Distribution Function of North Zone Inter-University Handball (Men & Women) Championship was held here today.
Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who gave away the prizes to the players and winning teams on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering Prof Ishar stressed upon the larger involvement of the students and faculty members in the sports activities and advised the Director of Sports, University of Jammu not to drop the ideas of projects which were initiated during his tenure.
Prof R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, while addressing the gathering congratulated the Director of Sports and his team for under taking such type of challenging job of organizing such mega events in a row without any sign of tiredness.
He assured the former Vice Chancellor that full support will be given to the Directorate of Sports for completion of all the pending projects.
He thanked Dr S M Bali and his team for organization of this Championship.
Earlier, Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presented welcome address.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Registrar of the University, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Coordinator Campuses, B K Magotra, H S Chib, Dr Vinod Bakshi, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Goutam Sharma, Vikesh Sharma, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia, P D Singh and Jai Bharat
The officiating team of the tournament included Anoop Singh, Karamveer Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Vikas Sharma, Karun Magotra, Govind Ram, Prabhleen Kour, Priya Charak, Bhanu Priya, Roshni Sharma, Pooja Sharma and Ashish Dogra and Rahul Bakshi.
The tournament was conducted under the overall supervision of Prof Bhau.
