SRINAGAR, Apr 16: The Jammu & Kashmir Men’s and Women’s teams delivered an outstanding performance at the 10th All India Inter Zonal Softball Championship 2024-25, winning gold medals in both categories and securing the overall North Zone title.
The championship, organized by the J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Softball Association, concluded at Bakshi Stadium, here today.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Iqbal Hussain Wani, Deputy Director, Industries & Commerce, as the chief guest. He was joined by Dr. Pravin Anaokar, Secretary General, Softball Association of India; Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir; Mushtaq Bashir, Managing Director, C P Advertising Company Pvt. Ltd.; and Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Senior Manager, J&K Sports Council, as special guests and guests of honour.
Top athletes from across the country showcased their skills in this prestigious event. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Wani congratulated the J&K Softball Association for conducting the championship in a professional and well-organized manner. He also highlighted the need for regular tournaments to elevate the sport of softball in Jammu & Kashmir and praised the association’s developmental initiatives.
Later, medals and trophies were distributed among the winners, runners-up, and third-place holders in both categories. Waseem Raja Khan, General Secretary of the J&K Softball Association, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, officials, and participants.
