JAMMU, Dec 26: Northern CC defeated Laxmi Cricket Club by seven wickets and entered into quarter finals in the ongoing Shaheed Lieutenant Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament, being played at Akhnoor, here today.
SDM Gopal Singh was the chief guest of today’s match.
Laxmi Cricket Club (LCC) Jammu won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first LCC scored 127 by losing 10 wickets in 18.4 overs. Vinayak made 25, whereas Jugjap, Vicky and Sameer contributed 27, 20 and 16 runs respectively. For Northern CC, Akash got five wickets, Ajay bagged two wickets and Shosha, Sachin and Bhanu shared one wicket each.
In reply, the Northern CC chased the target in just 11.4 overs by losing only three wickets. Bhanu scored maximum 88 runs, Sunny made 20 runs. From LCC, Sameer Khajuria got two wickets while Tapan got one wicket, thus NCC won the match by seven wickets.
SDM Akhnoor Gopal Singh while speaking on occasion suggested all the players to remain fit by playing games. He also advised all participants to register themselves under Sehat scheme in which every resident of Jammu and Kashmir is provided health insurance of Rs 5 lakh.
The tournament is being organized by Akhnoor Sports Club under overall supervision of Kr SS Langeh (Gen Secy District Jammu JKCA), whereas Dayal Singh and Vikas Bali were the umpires and Rohit and Arjun were the scorers.
