JAMMU, Oct 8: Northern Railway Employees Association today held a mass protest demonstration under the chairmanship of Vijay Singh to oppose FDI in pension. A protest rally was also taken out, which culminated at DTM office, Narwal.
A large number of Railway employees joined the protest rally. Holding placards in their hands they were opposing FDI in Pension Sector for Central Government Employees. Traffic was also disrupted on Narwal raod due to the largely attended rally.
Speaking on the occasion, various speakers highlighted the disadvantages of FDI in pension, which included, blockage of pension to the family after the demise of the employee and no pension after twenty years of retirement.
Addressing the protestors, Vijay Singh said that FDI in pension is not in the favour of employees and there is always a risk. When pension sector will go into the hands of the private holders, they will form a corporation, which will invest 60% of amount of pension of the employee in the share market and remaining 40 % with it, he said, adding their future is not safe if Government does not backtrack from its move of bringing FDI in pension.
