SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (GPC), Srinagar today said that even as there is anger and fear among the minority communities, they are never going to leave Kashmir at any cost while stating that the Government has failed in ensuring their security across the Valley.
Navtej Singh, Vice President of the GPC said that the incident in which two teachers were killed in Srinagar has hurt the minorities while there is fear and anger looming large.
“The anger was visible in the funeral procession that was taken out from Alochi Bagh. The anger is against the Government as they have failed in providing safety to the minorities as a day before 3 people were killed and the measures should have been taken to ensure protection,” he said.
With regard to the employees from minority communities working across J&K, he said that they need to be protected and will not attend their duties unless and until the measures for their protection are taken.
On the reaction from the majority community after the incident, the GPC, Srinagar said that they are deeply hurt that the members of the majority community did not join them in the funeral procession that was carried out.
“The members of the majority community did reach out and offered condolences but they should have participated in the procession, which they did not and that has hurt us,” he said.
Joginder Singh Shaan, State Secretary of Minority Affairs, PDP said that they are not going to leave Kashmir at any cost and will prefer to die instead.
“We have been living here with harmony and we do not expect people from the majority community holding guns to kill us. We will prefer to die, but we will not leave Kashmir,” he said, adding “if we leave Kashmir and if that solves every issue, we are ready to do that.”
Ravneet Singh Bittu, President GPC Srinagar said that if the woman was killed for unfurling the tri-colour, then “Burhan Wani’s father also unfurled the tri-color are they going to kill him as well. On the directions of the Government hundreds of schools unfurled the tri-colour, are they going to kill them all,” he asked, adding that killing woman is unacceptable.
