JAMMU: In the wake of Governor’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir, former chief minister Omar Abdullah today said that he is not in favour of mid-term polls in the State.

“We are ready to sit in the opposition, if PDP-BJP are ready to form the government,” Mr Abdullah told reporters after meeting Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan, here this evening.

Mr Abdullah said the National Conference is not in favour of mid-term polls because people vote with faith and for good governance.

“If PDP-BJP are not ready for government formation, then instead of looking for fractured dispensation, only polls is the option left,” he asserted.

On PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, he said that if she cannot take a decision in forming of government, then how will she take major decisions, if she becomes the Chief Minister.

“If Mehbooba Mufti cannot take a decision on government, then how will she be able to do justice in future, if she becomes the Chief Minister,” the NC working president said, adding that she (Mehbooba Mufti) cannot hang on the entire state for her self-interest.

Mr Abdullah, however, also said that government formation should take place at the earliest in the benefit of the state and people.

He, however, termed his meeting with the Governor as a routine matter to discuss issues pertaining to his constituency.(Agencies)
