Notice issue for supplying expired LPG cylinders

SRINAGAR, Oct 12: Legal Metrology Department today issued notice to a Plant Manager of an Oil Company after they found that some expired Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders were being supplied to the people.
In a press release, a spokesman of Legal Metrology Department said that on the instructions of Secretary Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, the field executives under the supervision of Deputy Controller (Enforcement) conducted surprise inspections of several LPG retail- outlets/godowns of Srinagar city.
“In an instance at Soiteng,Lasjan a gas dealer was found selling underweight refill LPG cylinders to consumers. The cylinders were found short by 500 grams. Some cylinders were found expired i.e. the retest date of cylinders were expired. The notice was served to the LPG distributor as well as Plant Manager of the Oil Company,” said the spokesman.
The spokesman said that Inspector, Legal Metrology C-1 Srinagar booked the gas agency under Section 39 of the Jammu and Kashmir Standards of Weights and Measures Act,1997.
