JAMMU, Mar 18: While election process for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat is opening tomorrow, only one nomination form has been filed in Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat so far even as the aspiring candidates have obtained 22 forms from the office of the Returning Officer in Jammu.
Official sources said Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Jatinder Singh, the Returning Officer for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, would issue the notification for the constituency tomorrow inviting nomination forms from the eligible candidates.
The candidates can file nomination forms up to March 26 while scrutiny of documents will take place the next day. The candidates can withdraw their nomination form till March 29. Voting would take place on April 17 and counting on May 16.
Meanwhile, only one nomination form has so far been filed by an Independent candidate Vijay Kumar on the name of Kissan Mazdoor Party for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat so far. However, the aspirants have obtained 22 forms from the office of the Returning Officer.
March 22 is last date for filing nomination papers in Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat. Bigwigs like BJP candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma, Congress nominee and two times MP from Jammu-Poonch seat Madan Lal Sharma, PDP candidate Yashpal Sharma and nominees of other political parties including BSP nominee Ashok Bhagat were yet to file nomination forms.
