JAMMU, Mar 19: A notorious bovine smuggler was booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) by police in RS Pura area here today.
A police spokesperson said that accused Shakeel Mohammad of Kadyal, Tehsil RS Pura, Jammu has been booked under PSA, after obtaining formal detention orders from the District Magistrate, Jammu and subsequently lodged in jail.
He said that accused was involved in multiple cases of bovine smuggling and his name had also surfaced the recent incident of sacrilege in Jammu’s Janipur area.
“Despite his involved in multiple FIRs, he didn’t mend his activities as he continued to indulge in bovine smuggling,” he said.
“In the past, the accused secured bail every time he was found indulged in the crime,” he further said, adding, “so, a dossier (PSA) was recommended against him, which was accordingly approved by the District Magistrate, leading to the booking and arrest of the accused under PSA.”
