NEW DELHI, May 10: A large number of National Panthers Party (NPP) activists held a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar this afternoon condemning BJP-PDP Government in J&K to stop their `Tiranga rally” to Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
The NPP had launched Tiranga Yatra from Lal Qila (Red Fort) to Lal Chowk (Srinagar) from May 5, 2016 under the leadership of Panthers Party chairman, Harshdev Singh and its president, Balwant Singh Mankotia with a clear message that India is one from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and the party shall not allow any discrimination with the citizens of India anywhere in the country.
The yatra of NPP activists was stopped at Patnitop, bordering districts of Udhampur and Doda on May 7. The Panthers Party leaders with their active participants were taken into custody, assaulted and forced to sign bail bonds. This matter was brought to the notice of Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister.
Prof Bhim Singh called it a greatest tragedy that a party founded by one of the greatest nationalist leaders, Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee which has now been renamed as Bharatiya Janata Party has joined hands with anti-national forces in J&K.
The NPP called on the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee for his urgent intervention to allow free movement of the Indian citizens from any part of India to any part of J&K which is a fundamental right of every citizen of India irrespective of his place of birth or place of residence from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Bhim Singh said that Panthers Party has decided to file a criminal petition against BJP-PDP Government of J&K for causing harassment and torture to the citizens of India and putting illegal ban on the movement of the citizens of India in J&K.
The protesting NPP workers also burnt the effigy of BJP led Govt at the Centre and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.
