JAMMU, July 18: Agitated over large scale backdoor and politically motivated appointments of Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu region, activists of NPP in large number led by  party chairman  Harsh Dev Singh staged a protest demonstration outside IG Office at Panjtirthi, here  today.
The angry protesters demanded immediate probe into all such engagements which had caused embitterment among the youth and deserving candidates in particular.
While addressing the media, Harsh Dev said that throwing all norms to the winds hundreds of SPOs had been engaged in circumvention of prescribed procedures and norms governing their recruitment and selection. He divulged that the said SPOs had been reportedly appointed on the recommendations of the politicians while the rumours were agog amongst the deserving candidates that the back door appointees had paid huge amount for their engagement .

Lambasting the BJP for its hollow slogans of transparency and accountability in the recruitment process, he said that all such engagements made on monetary considerations need to be probed at the earliest as the obnoxious trend had put a question mark over the credibility of the institution with fingers being raised against Jammu based politicians including the MLAs and Ministers for extending favours to their chosen ones.
Singh urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene into the matter and order a high level investigation against the illicit politically motivated selections of SPOs. “There should be a blanket ban on the appointments of SPOs in the State until the outcome of the probe as it was done earlier in 2014 by the Police HQ.
Referring to the 10000 posts of SPOs sanctioned by the Govt  of India for J&K earlier,  Yash Paul Kundal said that these were out rightly assigned to various districts of Kashmir region with full consent of BJP to appease Kashmiri youth. He regretted that after the voice being raised by the Jammu youth, a paltry share of the posts assigned to the region was despicably misused by the heavily mandated BJP leaders for their vested interests.
