JAMMU, Nov 3: Demanding a high level probe into the alleged pre-fixed appointments of some blue eyed persons in Jammu University, NPSU activists today held a protest demonstration on the campus.
Led by State NPSU president Thakur Virender Singh, the protesters raised slogans in support of their demand and also torched an effigy.
While addressing the gathering, Thakur Virender Singh accused the JU authorities of indulging in the malpractices by resorting to favouritism and nepotism in selection of some candidates for different positions. Urging the Governor to constitute an independent inquiry to probe into the matter within seven days, he threatened to hold indefinite protests if the demand is not considered.
Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu also addressed the protesters and said that pre-fixed appointments were discouraging the morale of meritorious aspirants. He hoped that the new Vice-Chancellor will look into the matter and take appropriate step.
