JAMMU, Mar 5: A deputation of Numberdars and Chowkidars called on the Minister of State for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmad Khan today.
The deputation brought into his notice the problems being confronted by the Numberdar and Chowkidar fraternity.
Responding to their demands, the Minister informed the deputation that Numberdars and Chowkidars would be made part of Deh majlis in every village for which necessary orders are also being issued. He advised them to take active interest in the affairs of their respective areas and report the developments to their DCs and Tehsildars regularly.
The Minister said he would hold meetings with Numberdars and Chowkidars in every district he visits. He told them that their role in the development of society is critical and they should look beyond the revenue collection function and act as an interface between Government and people.
Mr. Ajaz assured the deputation that he would look into the issues they raised and promised them appropriate action.
