JAMMU, Oct 9: National Youth Corps (NYC) today condemned lathicharge on their volunteers at Srinagar.
A meeting of NYC was held under the chairmanship of its State vice president, Asif Ali Bhat, who while speaking termed the act of lathicharge as shameful.
He said that the Government has tuned deaf ear to their demands including regularization, conversion of monthly honorarium into monthly salary and continuation of their duties in the same department, where they have rendered two years service.
Bhat added that from tomorrow onwards they will launch chain hunger strike and also threatened to launch divisional level protest, if their demands were not fulfilled by the Government at the earliest.
Among others present were State joint secretary Sayed Bakar Ali Jafri, Yaser Arfat, State general secretary and other NYC volunteers.
