UDHAMPUR, Oct 30: National Yuva Cooperative Society (NYCS) selected 16 young athletes including 2 girls from Udhampur for the purposed State Level trials as part of the Pan India Athletics Talent Scouting for Summer Olympics 2020 and 2024.
In a day-long activity held at Subash Stadium here today wherein around 1200 young boys and girls from various educational institution of far flung areas of Udhampur district took part, the district trial was held under the supervision of event district representative Rakesh Sharma & Assistant District Coordinator, Kuldeep Singh. They were assisted by State Representative of the NYCS, Opinder Sharma.
Those selected athletes with best timing were giving away the certificates by the chief guest, Dy. Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar. He interacted with promising athletes and wished them success for future competitions. Pawan Sharma (Member MHRD M Minority Committee was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Earlier in the morning, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Varinder Sharma declared open the district trials and encouraged the young athletes. SSP Udhampur Rayees Bhat and other police officials were also present on the occasion.
List of qualified athletes: Vasu Sapolia (100,200,400m) U -14; Sourav Magotra (100m) U-17
List of near qualified athletes: Sonika Sharma 400 mtrs under-17.
Boys U-17 100 mtrs: Irfan Iqubal, Shamsher singh, Vimesh Kumar, Sanyukt, Asif Ali, Guru Sevak and Mohd Toyab Malik.
Boys U-14 100 mtrs: Komal Preet, Mahi Jendra, Lokesh, Rajveer.
Girls U-14 100 mtrs: Mahi Sharma.
Boys U-17: Karan Chendial.
