Oak Hill Institute wins title trophy in judo

SRINAGAR, July 7: Oak Hill Institute Srinagar lifted the title trophy of Srinagar District Judo Championship, organized by J&K Judo Association, under the auspices of J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association at Indoor Sports Complex, Bakshi Stadium here.
The runners-up trophy went to New Convent School, Srinagar.
350 judokas drawn from various schools participated in this mega event.
The Championship was declared open by RC Thakur, senior vice president, J&K Judo Association, while senior Congress leader, Nisar Khan was the chief guest in the closing ceremony.
Vikas Gupta, secretary J&K Judo Association and Mushtaq Ahmed Banday, manager Bakshi Stadium Srinagar were the guests of honour, while Gowhar Khan was the organizing secretary of the Championship. The Championship was held under the chairmanship of Abdul Hamid Khan, joint secretary J&K Judo Association.
Earlier, in Under-12 below 30 kg boys, Manzoor, Iflaq and Ahtisham bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in Under-15 below 25 kg boys, Gasif Mahajan, Miran and Zuhaib claimed first three places respectively.
In below 30 kg boys, Afran Latif bagged gold, Fahad clinched silver and Azhar claimed bronze, while in below 35 kg boys, Mansheed, Nawaz and Arish claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In below 4o kg boys, Saqib, Suhail and Ishfan bagged first three places to claim gold, silver and bronze respectively, while below 45 kg, Mehran Mushtaq, Adil Gosami and Idrees Riyaz won gold, silver and bronze respectively.
Below 50 kg boys gold, silver and bronze medals went to Zubair, Azhar and Qasim Shafi respectively, while in below 55 kg boys, Janisar, Himanyun and Basit Ali won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
Mumtaz, Humayun and Suhaib claimed medals in above 55 kg boys, while 56 kg boys gold went to Mohd Athar, silver to Danish Bhat and bronze to Numan.
Adnan, Amer and Amrit Pal claimed gold, silver and bronze in 60 kg boys, while gold and silver in 66 kg boys went to Mohd Waseem and Jawad Bhat respectively. Saqib bagged gold in 73 kg boys.
Meanwhile, in 25 kg girls, Duha, Atoofa and Syed Maheen claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 30 kg girls, Nazish, Munaza and Abilsa bagged first three positions.
In below 35 kg girls, Mehrul, Rabia and Anam claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 40 kg girls, Tahneesa, Sumara and Jaipreet bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In 44 kg girls, Munaza, Ritba and Bazilla won gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 48 kg, Hamiya, Afreen and Nazakat claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
The bouts were officiated by a panel of experts including Suraj Bhan Singh, Shafqat Shafi, Dev Raj, Manzoor Ahmad, Umar hamza, Rahil Shafi, Fazil, Irfan, Roaf and Toweed.
