NEW DELHI : Ahead of his vist to India, United States President Barack Obama today called upon Pakistan to act against terror and bring the culprits of Mumbai attacks to justice. In an exclusive interview to India Today carried in the latest issue of the magazine, Mr Obama said the safe havens of terrorists in Pakistan was not acceptable. “I have made it clear that even as the United States works with Pakistan to meet the threat of terrorism, safe havens for terrorists within Pakistan are not acceptable and that those behind the Mumbai terrorist attack must face justice,” Mr Obama said.
The US President, who is arriving on a three-day visit to India on Sunday, has said his country’s fight against terrorism was unrelenting and it was a fight in which Indians and Americans were united.
Mr Obama also condemned Peshawar attacks and said it was “a painful reminder that terrorists threaten us all”. Mr Obama, besides holding bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 25, will attend the Republic Day parade as chief guest.
He is the first US President to visit India twice and first to attend the Republic day function as chief guest. (AGENCIES)
