OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra concludes, seeks 27% quota

JAMMU, Mar 2: The eighth OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra  led by Kasturi Lal Basotra Chairman Jammu & Kashmir OBC Mahasabha along with Mohan Lal Pawar, general secretary, Faquir Chand Satia, president All India Backward Classes Fedration and others concluded here today.
Tiranga yatra was started from Hari Singh Park, Jammu to create awareness among the community members and draw the attention of the Government towards their issues including implementation of 27 % reservation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The peaceful rallies were held at Dhansal-Tehsil,Shanoo-village, Manwal-town on Feb 26 and on Feb 27 Udhampur town and it reached  Katra City where a awareness programme and a rally was held.
Then on Feb 28 this Tiranga yatra started  from Kabir Sabha Reasi and after passing through main bazaars of  Reasi via Zanana Park,  moved towards Tehsil  Sunderbani and after holding awareness programme and rallies at Kheral, Pouni town, it reached Devak and Pambla.
On Feb 29, rally-cum-awareness programme was held in main chowk Sunderbani town and  after passing through main bazaar, left for started for Akhnoor and Jammu. A massive rally was held at Akhnoor town and finally culminated this  yatra after a big show at Akhnoor.
The members were keeping Indian Constitution on their heads like ‘KALSH’ raised slogans JAI-SAVIDHAN JAI-SAVIDHAN, SAVE-CONSTITUTION SAVE-INDIA  at public places while  passing through main cities/towns/villages and also  for the implementation of our fundamental constitutional rights of 27% reservation.
They said 11-12% reservation for JK-UT  OBCs is not acceptable to them. Their population is 42% at present and just 12 pc quota was not justified.
The OBC leaders further demanded that Union Govt should immediately release the scholarships for OBC students, the creamy layer condition on OBC masses should be abolished like Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribes, the word RURAL is still standing in the central list of OBCs despite the deletion of this RURAL word by Jammu & Kashmir Govt, due to which the masses of barber, Kumhar, Dhobi and Teeli residing in urban areas are not getting their OBC certificates.
OBC leaders Darshan Mehra, Chairman, Kashyap Mahasangh, Kewal Fotra, general secretary All J&K Sain Samaj, Bushan Kumar Verma , Vice-Chairman OBC Mahasabha, All J&K OBC Welfare Forum, Srinagar, Abdul Qadir, general secretary, Dhobi Welfare Central Committee, Ashok Kumar of Deblerh, Manohar Lal Tidyal also accompanied.
